The increasing penetration of renewable energy in modern power systems necessitates more resources to accommodate the vulnerability caused by low-probability extreme events. Currently, the identification, utilization, and coordination of the flexibility resources in the low-inertia power systems remain underexplored. This Special Session focuses on the advanced control schemes of renewable energy, fast-response devices, and energy storage, etc., to enhance the resilience and stability of low-inertia power systems, with a further aim to explore market designs that facilitate the active participation of flexibility resources.

Organizer: Dr. Sufan Jiang, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore

Dr. Sufan Jiang received the B.S.E.E., M.S.E.E., and Ph.D. degrees from Southeast University, Nanjing, China. Currently, he is a research fellow at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. Before joining NTU, he was a research scientist at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK), TN, USA, from 2022 to 2024. His research interests include cross-regional power transmission, resilient power system planning, energy policy in energy transition, and seaport electrification.

Co-organizer: Assoc. Prof. Heling Yuan, Dalian University of Technology, China

Dr. Heling Yuan received the B.E. from North China Electric Power University, China, and M.S. degrees from the University of Manchester, Manchester, UK, in 2016 and 2017, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, in 2022. From 2022 to 2025, she was a research fellow at NTU Rolls-Royce Corp Lab and then was with the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Nanyang Technological University. She is currently served as an associate professor at Dalian University of Technology, China. Her research interests include power system stability and operation, onshore and shipboard operation and energy management.

Co-organizer: Assoc. Prof. Yunyang Zou, Chongqing University, China

Dr. Yunyang Zou received the B.E. and M.E. degrees from Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China, in 2014 and 2017, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, in 2024. From 2017 to 2020, he was an Electrical Engineer with State Grid Chongqing Electric Power Company, Chongqing, China. From 2024 to 2026, he was a Research Fellow with Nanyang Technological University. He is currently an Associate Professor with the School of Electrical Engineering, Chongqing University, Chongqing, China. His research interests include electricity markets, renewable-energy distribution systems, and multi-energy systems.


Invited Speaker: Assoc. Prof. Ping Lin, Dalian University of Technology, China

Ping Lin (Member, IEEE) received the Ph.D. degree in navigation guidance and control from the School of Control Science and Engineering, Dalian University of Technology, Dalian, China, in 2021. From 2022 to 2024, he was working as a Postdoctoral Researcher with the Dalian University of Technology. He is currently an Associate Professor with the School of Control Science and Engineering, Dalian University of Technology, Dalian, China, since 2024. His research interests include nonlinear systems, active disturbance rejection control, and generator control systems.

Invited Speaker: Dr. Qirun Sun, Hohai University, China

Dr. Qirun Sun received the B.S. degree (2018) and Ph.D. degree (2024) from the School of Electrical Engineering, Southeast University, Nanjing, China. From 2023 to 2024, he was a visiting Ph.D. student with School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He is currently a lecturer with the School of Electrical and Power Engineering, Hohai University, Nanjing, China. His research interests include integrated energy system, resilience enhancement, distribution system, and renewable energy.

Invited Speaker: Dr. Wennan Zhuang, Nanjing Normal University, China

Dr. Wennan Zhuang received the B.Eng. degree from the School of Electrical Engineering, Southeast University, Nanjing, China, in 2019, and the Ph.D. degree (through a combined Master's-Doctoral program) from Southeast University, Nanjing, China, in 2024. From 2023 to 2024, she was a Joint Ph.D. Candidate with Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, supported by the China Scholarship Council (CSC). She is currently a Lecturer with the School of Electrical and Automation Engineering, Nanjing Normal University, China. Her research interests include modeling, planning, simulation, and operation of hydrogen and ammonia energy systems, energy storage, and integrated energy systems.

Invited Speaker: Dr. Yuanyi Chen, Nanjing Normal University, China

Dr. Yuanyi Chen received the B.E. degree in Electrical Engineering from Beijing Jiaotong University, Beijing, China, in 2020, and the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China, in 2025. He was a visiting Ph.D. student at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, in 2024. He is currently a Lecturer with the School of Electrical and Automation Engineering, Nanjing Normal University, Nanjing, China. His research interests include coupled power and transportation networks, vehicle-grid interaction, and electricity market.

Invited Speaker: Dr. Ze Li, NARI Technology Co., Ltd, China

Dr. Ze Li received the B.E. and Ph.D. degrees from the School of Electrical Engineering, Southeast University, Nanjing, China, in 2014 and 2021, respectively. He is currently a Senior Engineer of State Grid Electric Power Research Institute (NARI Group Corporation), Nanjing, China. His research interests include power system security analysis and control, power system restoration, and power system resilience.
