The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into power electronics marks a transformative era in electrical engineering, revolutionizing both design methodologies and applications across the power conversion landscape. This special session, "AI Enabled Power Electronic Design and Application," aims to explore cutting-edge developments at the intersection of machine learning algorithms and power electronic systems. From intelligent topology optimization and automated control parameter tuning to predictive maintenance and real-time system adaptation, AI technologies are reshaping traditional approaches to power electronic design, enabling unprecedented levels of efficiency, reliability, and performance. The session welcomes contributions that showcase novel AI applications in areas such as converter design optimization, smart grid integration, renewable energy systems, and electric vehicle powertrains. By bringing together researchers, industry experts, and practitioners, this session seeks to foster discussions on current challenges, emerging solutions, and future directions in AI-driven power electronics, ultimately advancing the field toward more intelligent and sustainable energy conversion systems.

Chair: Assoc. Prof. Chenggang Cui, Shanghai University of Electric Power, China

Chenggang Cui is an Associate Professor at Shanghai University of Electric Power. His primary research interests include intelligent control of power electronics and microgrids, as well as the application of artificial intelligence in power systems. Professor Cui has published over 20 papers in journals such as IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Power Electronics, IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems, and International Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control. He has led several research projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China Youth Project, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development Science and Technology Plan Project, projects with Zhejiang Electric Power, and projects with China Power Construction Group.

Co-chair: Asst. Prof. Pengfeng Lin, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China

Pengfeng Lin received the B.S. and M.S. degree in electrical engineering from Southwest Jiaotong University, China, in 2013 and 2015 respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in Interdisciplinary Graduate Programme from Nanyang Technological Universty, Singapore, in 2020. He was with Energy Research Institute @ NTU as a Research Fellow and with Électricité de France (EDF) as a Smart Grid Energy Expert / Research Scientist. He is in the global top 2% of Scientists released by Standard University. He is currently an Assistant Professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. His research interests include power system stability / reliability analyses, smart grid cyber-physical security, and artificial intelligence analytics.
