Session 3: Advances in Switching Technology

“开断技术研究进展”

Session 3

Advances in Switching Technology “开断技术研究进展”

Switching equipment is a vital equipment for the control and protection of power system, ensuring the safe and reliable operation of AC and DC power system. SF6, which is widely used in switching equipment, has been strictly restricted for using in the power equipment and banned from emissions due to its strongest greenhouse effect and longer atmospheric lifetime. Investigation focusing on its eco-friendly alternatives is in urgent need for the development of switchgear. With the increasing demand for renewable energy connected, the rapid development of flexible DC power system has an urgent need for high-performance, economical and reliable DC circuit breakers. Intelligent sensing, condition monitoring, life assessment, etc. are important ways to improve the reliability of switching equipment. Recently, switching equipment is gradually developing in the direction of environmental protection, intelligence and integration, and the application scenarios include AC and DC power transmission and distribution systems. With the rapid development of high voltage and capacity transmission, there is an urgent need for high-capacity intelligent switching technology to provide protection for the safe operation of the system.

To share the important achievements and advancements in the research of switching equipment and switching technology, this special session aims to highlight the latest advancements in such research fields with interests include but not limited to:

  • (1) Eco-friendly switching technology using vacuum and eco-friendly insulating gas medium.
  • (2) Application of new electrical materials in switching equipment.
  • (3) Design of interrupting structure and driving mechanisms.
  • (4) DC and intelligent switching technologies.
  • (5) Conditioning monitoring and diagnosis for switching equipment.
  • (6) Design, manufacturing, simulation and testing technologies for switching equipment.
